Sunday Reflections

Happy September Sunday, Friends! Welcome back to Sunday Reflections.

A reminder….Sunday Reflections is a weekly lifestyle post where I reflect on a variety of topics in my life.

And currently, I am reflecting on fall.

Yesterday, we awoke to full on, wonderful, fall.

The skies were cloudy…a little drizzle…temps in the low 60s…and it was glorious in every way. The birds even seemed happier.

I immediately opened windows. Later in the day put on my homemade chili and cornbread…cranked up football..and proceeded to smile throughout the day.

It was my first time in over a week to go to the market, and those wonderful cinnamon scented pine cones met me at the door, so naturally I brought a bag home.

I hope most of you are also enjoying a touch of early fall, and that you will get your pumpkin cup and join me for Sunday Reflections.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: DECOR HAS BEGUN

Sunday Reflections

Friday was my first day to have a mini-burst of energy, so I did begin fall decorating right before a front came through.

I started with the front and back porches. This new pumpkin for the back came from my stop recently at TJ Maxx.

Outdoor pillows are always switched out with pillow covers from Amazon. They are inexpensive and always a touch of fun, plus treated for outdoors.

These same pillows will have Christmas covers after Thanksgiving.

Also, before the sickness hit, I had stopped by Hobby Lobby for 40% off on fall foliage.

I enjoyed putting something new together for the vase that greets those who walk through the front door.

I love these shades and they add a touch of warmth to the entry way….which is overtaken at times by the funky white wall.

I still have work to do, but at least I got a start on my fall decorating. I will update you when I get more done.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: A CABBAGE SOUP

Sunday Reflections

At the end of August, I saw a recipe for a Beef Cabbage Soup and knew I had these ingredients….I also love cabbage!

Mr. B liked it, so I thought I would share it with you…super easy.

Sunday Reflections

First, I cooked one chopped onion, three minced garlic cloves, and a pound of ground sirloin together in a soup pot.

I also mixed into the meat 1/8 cup of Worcestershire Sauce, one teaspoon salt, and one-half teaspoon black pepper.

I put the rest of these ingredients into the pot once the meat is browned:

1 chopped small head of cabbage

3 large fresh carrots, sliced

1 green bell pepper, chopped and one red bell pepper chopped

1 28 oz can of San Marzano diced tomatoes

1 48 oz container of chicken bone broth

1 chicken boullion cube

If you want it a little spicy, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and a small can of chopped Hatch chilis.

Stir it all together and cook for about 30 minutes. It is very good.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: REVIEWING THE PAST

Sunday Reflectiona

One advantage to having this blog for me, is that I can look back on outfits from the past 16 years.

I did that this week while resting and reviewed some of my fall outfits from the past that I really liked.

For example, there was a year, I was really into leopard and red. After looking over some of these outfits, I have decided that this year, I will wear leopard and red again.

Red is a good color for my new spring palette and it looks so vibrant and fun with leopard.

I also saw many garments that I had passed along because I was weary of them…but really wish I still had them now.

I simply must begin turning over my wardrobe this week and pulling out the fall items while packing the super summer ones.

Have you started to do that yet?

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: WEEKLY SCRIPTURE FOCUS

Sunday Reflections

This Scripture verse helped to see me through this past week, as I prayed for rest and strength to get better. Jesus’ promise that He would give me rest was one I relied on.

I am going to continue to read it daily this week.

The calendar for the rest of the month is full, and I feel behind since I was unable to complete the tasks I had planned for last weekend.

But lamenting over this does me absolutely no good, so I must pray and keep going forward to get it all done.

And then remember that rest is still required to get my strength back.

Thank you again for all of the support and kind words this week once you knew I had the flu. You guys are so amazing.

Let me know if you have thoughts about Sunday Reflections today…and I plan to be here tomorrow…until then….

BE THANKFUL AND KEEP SMILING!!
