Happy Sunday, friends. Welcome to my weekly lifestyle post called Sunday Reflections.
Most of you know that Sunday Reflections is a hodge-podge (love the phrase!) of my week before and sometimes tease of the week ahead.
This past week, I was faithful to go early to my gym for four days of the week.
One morning as I turned in, I literally gasped at the size of the sun rising….this picture does not do it justice, it appeared much larger.
The Lord often takes my breath away with His creation.
I sat in the car and experienced the glory of the morning for awhile, and then went into the gym whistling that old song by The Cyrkle with the lyrics…“The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball…”
Remember that one?
I know some people think that whistling is creepy…thanks to Hollywood…but I love to whistle, always have.
My plan is to keep going early consistently to the gym…it gets my day started right and focused on gratitude.
When on my treadmill, I avoid earphones and solitaire and use that time for prayer.
Thank you for being here with me for Sunday Reflections…let’s get comfy and look over my week….
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: EASY SOUP

In last week’s Sunday Reflections Post, I shared how I made two chicken pies…one for my daughter’s family.
When I make chicken pie, I select big whole chickens at the market to cook. Then I have extra meat and broth for other meals.
The chicken pie chickens were nice sizes, and last week I had chicken salad and this soup with the leftovers.

This is CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP.
I put in the extra broth, and stir in a packet of Taco Seasoning (this one was McCormick).
Three fresh carrots were chopped and placed into the broth with a about 1/2 cup extra onion, chopped.
Then I poured in two cans of sweet corn (drained); a can of chopped tomatoes with green pepper; and a can of BUSH’S SIDEKICKS TACO FIESTA BLACK BEANS, and one can of regular black beans (drained).
With a handful of the extra shredded chicken, it is ready to cook and delicious.
I serve it over Xochitl Organic Blue Corn Chips…these are organic, gluten free, and no sugar added.
Mr. B loves a bowl of soup when he comes home from work in the evenings.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: WHAT I WORE

Last week was a busy week with much going on at home…so I was not out and about as much as I usually am.
This is what I wore the day I stopped by Kohl’s.
My plan was to try on blazers and jackets so I wore these navy knit pants and a sleeveless top as the backdrop for the jackets.
I have enjoyed this red linen jacket often this summer…it was a great third piece to wear during warm days and the red is one of my new colors.
Labor Day weekend is when I will begin a gradual turnover of my wardrobe to the next season. I keep transitional pieces, but move out the really summery ones.
Hopefully this week, I can get more pictures of me in some of my outfits I plan to wear when the weather begins to cool off.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: CHANGES

I do not know about you, but for me, the hardest thing to deal with over age 50 has been that word CHANGE.
In my fifties, I knew there were changes ahead, but kind of ignored it.
In my sixties, change hit me hard as I saw my profession change, leadership change at work and church, and the world begin to change dramatically.
In my seventies, I am handling change better through prayer and more positive outlooks. (And there are changes in my life happening that I will explain at some point.)
Choosing to live one day at a time with no worries about the future and no regrets about the past really does help to deal with change.
“What do you have for me today, Lord?”
Fall does teach us to look forward to change…it comes at a time when heat and dry grass have become old…
It comes with fresh breezes and vibrant color. It comes with marching bands and pep rallies…and lots of spices.
Breathe them deeply and embrace change. When fall finally arrives full on, it is glorious.
We are given a choice to embrace change daily…we are here for a reason…and hopefully will not squander those opportunities.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK

Since my mind was on changes this past week, I was drawn to this particular Bible Verse as a focus for the week ahead.
God’s Words are great reminders to stay prayerful and thankful through changes….and the results will be peace.
Thank you for joining me today for Sunday Reflections...please leave any thoughts you may have.
We are entering the last week of August…and Labor Day Weekend is when I will bring fall into my home…I love this change!
See you tomorrow…until then…
KEEP SMILING!!
