Happy Sunday, friends. Welcome to Sunday Reflections, my weekly lifestyle post.
Sunday Reflections could often be called my random stream of consciousness as I often write about very different topics each week.
This is a post where I share with you what has been on mind this past week, and sometimes share what will happen on the blog next week.
I am already excited for fall and looking forward to decorating, cooking, festivals and all that comes with the season.
This new excitement happened last week.
The first day of school was last Monday, and it was raining, and very cool as a small front went through.
I enjoyed working at my computer and watching school buses splash through the puddles as they gathered sleepy kids for the new year.
The dark, drizzly skies were my kind of morning…I resisted temptations to pull out the pumpkins.
I kept thinking about a new store I had discovered a few days before.
So, let’s get cozy and first I will tell you about the store…..
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS – THE PERCH

On this day, I stopped by the UPS Store to ship items to our other family members.
When I left UPS, I noticed a beautiful sign nearby with the store name….THE PERCH.
So, I decided to check it out and I am so glad that I did. This is a home decor store with the rustic vibe that I have always loved.

It was opened by a lovely interior designer who also makes some of the creations that she sells.
When I left San Antonio, I left a similar store behind (which sadly has now closed) and I did not know if I would ever find another one.

So, I am very glad to have discovered The Perch.
It should be no surprise that my first purchase there were autumn decorations…since I am in a fall-state-of-mind.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS – IN THE KITCHEN

My grandsons return to school had me back in the kitchen making cookies for carpool.
They requested my BEST EVER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES…and I made enough to put in their lunches a couple of days.

And here is something I am still reflecting on….
I decided to make my Chicken Pie yesterday…so it requires cooking two chickens (since one is for Mr. B and I, and one for my daughter’s family).
You can see with this link, that I have not shared the recipe since 2018, and since I was only making one pie, I used the crock pot…which I believe is best.

But, yesterday I made two pies…so I put a chicken in each pot with chopped celery, onion, two garlic cloves, and salt.
One chicken was in my new MADE IN COOKWARE STOCK POT, and one was in my (much older) cooking pot. I was really amazed at the difference.
The water in the Made In pot boiled a full 45 minutes before the other pot! I think it is time to retire all of my old stuff.
The picture is one of the pies I made yesterday.

Also, this week, I made a tuna salad for Mr. B and me with a different twist.
I cut in half a container of multi-colored cherry tomatoes.
Then stirred in a drained can of white beans.
Added 1/4 cup each of chopped chives, dill, and parsely.
Then stirred in a family size pack of white tuna in water.
I sprinkled this with pink salt and black pepper. Then stirred in a tablespoon of Chili-Garlic Paste….with Mr. B I try to always include a little “kick.”
The dressing is:
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
1/8 teaspoon sea salt ( or if you don’t add the sale above, then increase this to 1/4)
a dash of frehly ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon honey
1/4-1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme or basil.
He liked it and so did I…a nice summer dinner served with arugula sprinkled with balsamic vinegar.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS – COLOR OF THE YEAR

Fall fashion is heavily influenced this year by Pantone’s Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse…a light brown.

So, when I went to the nail salon this week, I decided to look for something similar to Mocha Mousse.
This is the color we found and I really like it and may just do it more than once for a while.

It is OPI’s Fall-ing for Milan, # M101.
If you are joining me with the love of brown this next season, you might check this color out…it is lovely.
SUNDAY REFLECTIONS – SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK

For years, I have prayed this Scripture over people I care about who need an extra portion of trust in God to experience HIs hope, joy, and peace.
For various reasons, I will be praying this over some other individuals this week.
We all have times when we need to completely trust God with what is happening around us….He is the only hope.
If you are going through something similar, you might be blessed to have other verses to read this week:
Psalm 9:10
Jeremiah 17:7-8
Romans 10:11
Isaiah 26: 3-4
Psalm 146: 5
Psalm 32:10
Jeremiah 17:7-8
Romans 10:11
Isaiah 26: 3-4
Psalm 146: 5
Psalm 32:10
Believe me, it is worth your time to look these up in your Bible. They are a blessing and will help you to focus on trusting God.
Thank you for stopping by today and joining with me for Sunday Reflections.
You are simply the best and I am honored to have you join me and this blog community here on Sundays.
I hope to see you tomorrow…until then….
HAVE HOPE AND KEEP SMILING!
